Guardian angel tattoo design tattoos are very popular, and demonstrates the different types of emotion, as well as the beliefs of a particular person. Identification of the Christian to remember your loved one, or maybe, just like the idea that angels, worn by this type of tattoo by many people in today's culture and generation.

Guardian angels is a concept that had begun way back in Christianity, especially among the Catholic Romanian. These types of angels as a certain group of angels that are known as angels Hafez, which is said to be expensive for a particular person by God. Moreover, it is known that these angels to stay with the person who has been assigned to them, all over a person's life as a whole.

Their mission is to help protect the person from any harm, as well as to help a person to communicate God through prayer. With the introduction of the term guardian "angels" on the way back in the 5th century, and since then, the idea of people from these angels have changed a bit. He said many parents that this is not really the angels that are assigned by God, but instead, it is the spirit of our loved ones that passed away. Ideas Wrist Tattoos

Wrist tattoo is one of the most sought after topics reciprocal as it can be modern and stylish. However, when you choose this type of art object, and there are factors to consider. Even before jumping into a vehicle, make sure you know the pros and cons of the first when getting a tattoo on the wrist.
Let's start with the pros ....
A small and simple works best. The wrist is a small area to work in the artist each other. When choosing the design, it is recommended to go for the small picture instead of going bold and big. Do not go to the intricate designs and detailed that it does not show anyway.
When it comes to design options, in an attempt to go to the pictures on a simple shape such as astrology and horoscopes Avatar sign, heart and cross. You can also go to the bracelet patterns such as the series, perhaps, beads, claddagh, charm bracelets, vines and florals in all parts of your wrist. Such forms are common, but there are lots of ways to make it unique. All you have to do is use your imagination or with closely with your tattoo artist so that he can get it customized for you.
The great thing about the wrist tattoo is the fact that it is located on an area where you can easily see and brag about them. Admit it, we love showing off our body to the ink as an expression of what we are. What is even better is to get a tattoo in this area is much cheaper since you do not have to go for large complex designs.
And now to see the ...
Be ready for operations that touch in the future. Because there is a lot of movement involved in the wrist, and can fade overtime. Compare that to other sites, this may be the most difficult one to maintain the pristine condition.
And can be obtained for the application of your business since located on the exposed part of the body. Some companies still have issues and discrimination against visible tats especially the ones with the preparation of a formal office and business.
Another important thing you must remember about the wrist tattoo is that the level of pain in this area is higher than that. This is part of skeleton and there is less meat to reduce the skin during the tattoo. Also, as mentioned above, there is movement in the height of the wrist so healing may take longer.
Now that you are aware of the advantages and disadvantages, and it is up to you whether you want to go for it or now. All of this is a matter of personal choice and opinion. The important thing is to give it some forethought and planning before getting one so you will not regret it in the end.

Tattoo Cover Ups Ideas

Changing one's mind about a piece of body art is very common. People change their minds about tattoos all the time. A change in taste, a change in relationship, a hasty trip to an untalented artist - all of these are examples of reasons people no longer want their tattoo.

Unfortunately, some individuals are hasty and act on compulsion when they originally got the unwanted tattoo. I highly recommend that the decision to get a tattoo is not done in haste.

If you find yourself with a tattoo you now regret and no longer want to have, getting a cover up may be the perfect solution. For financial reason, many individuals cannot afford the high cost of laser tattoo removal or other costly options. If you desire to get additional tattoos and had planned on getting more ink in the same area as the unwanted tattoo, you should consider a cover up.

There are basically two types of tattoo cover ups. One type is basically reworking a badly done tattoo. The artist takes the existing design and embellishes it with better lines and color work and turns an ugly and poorly done tattoo into an attractive one. The other type of cover up essentially eradicates the old design by completely disguising and covering it up with a brand new design

Your first goal should be to find a talented artist and preferably one that specializes in cover ups. If you visit a reputable parlor you should be able to looks at the artist's portfolio. If they do cover ups then they are bound to have a sample of their work - before and after - in their display of tattoo work.

Once you've settled on a proficient artist, have a discussion with them about what your goal is. They can guide you on choosing on a design that will adequately cover the area.

With a complete cover up, there are some limitations as to the design option you could choose. For example, if you are trying to cover a tattoo that has a lot of black ink, you will be limited to choosing a design with dark colors. The cover up is usually much larger than the original tattoo. You have to follow the advice of the artist as they know what will work to meet your goal. Each tattoo must be evaluated individually. The one drawback to a cover up is that you are limited to your choices. Some artists are able to take a design or idea you may have and improvise and produce a custom design to accomplish a cover up.

Although a cover up is bound to run you hundreds of dollars, it will still be less costly than laser tattoo removal or other removal options currently available.

Tattoos Can Make You Exotic?

Not every girl is born a mystery but every women can become exotic. A properly placed and correctly themed tattoo design can achieve it. While many tattoos have become common place and even tacky there are still a few designs and placements that can active the desired effect.

Series of Numbers

A small tattoo with a series of numbers properly placed can lend a level of mystery to most anyone. The number can be tattooed on the wrist of ankle and people seeing it will wonder what the numbers stand for. Getting a simple birth date, with no spaces will add a level of intrigue to a normally plain design. This series of numbers is not to be confused with a bar code tattoo.

Odd Symbol

An odd from another country will have a built in air intrigue. While religious symbols often achieve the same effect, more rarely used symbols will have a more exotic look. While a properly positioned rosary bead tattoo design can be mysterious, a thousand year old Buddhist symbol would draw more curiosity.Always remember though that symbols do have meaning and never get a design just because it looks exotic.

Foreign Language

Foreign language tattoos can be very exotic if placed correctly on the body. This is not referring to Chinese characters, they are no longer mysterious and have fallen into the novelty category. Hebrew looks nice tattooed, as do Latin phrases like "Carpe Diem". A word of caution when getting any foreign language tattoo always do a lot of research and make sure you are getting the words you desire.

Things to Consider Tattoo Sleeve

Getting sleeve tattoos done is not as simple as walking into a tattoo shop with a fist full of money and requesting to get inked up. Many factors play into large scale tattooing and they must be appreciated.

Stable Artist Stable Shop

Do not start a sleeve tattoo with some random artist at the closest tattoo shop to your house. Spend some time researching the parlors in your area find a stable shop with a good reputation that has been in business for a while. Check out the shop and view the artist portfolios. Just because you are at the best shop does not mean they have the best artist. Check out the individual portfolios, try to find an artist who tattoos in a style you like.

Do Not Start Small

Do not start a sleeve by getting several small tattoo designs and trying to piece them together with various elements i.e. fire, water etc. A better idea is to completely plan out and theme the entire design before a single dot is tattooed. Like anything else in life tattooing greatly benefits from good planning, and having the entire sleeve drawn out on paper helps to keep proportions on track.

Keep Cost In Mind

Tattooing can be quit expensive and an artist worth getting work from can be really expensive. Always keep in mind that your tattoo artist lives of this artwork. They sell it to you one time, get payed one time. But you keep the artwork forever, this is where the cost comes from. Many tattoo artist feel tattoos are far to cheap and should more on track with other commercial artist. Make sure to establish what the rate for the work is before getting started.

Keep Time In Mind
Sleeve tattoos can not be generally done over night. Rushing anything including tattooing can result in regret. It may takes weeks to get the outline done it may be months before any color work is done at all. Getting a large scale tattoo is very time consuming and patience is a must.

Arabic Tattoos

For those seeking exotic tattoos with flowing forms and hidden meanings, Arabic tattoos may just be the answer. Although most Arabic tattoos are seen in the form of henna tattoos (temporary ink tattoos that last up to a few weeks primarily located on hands and feet), more and more Arabic designs are being requested in tattoo parlors in the western world. With Arabic writing tattoos being the most popular, translations of meaningful names and phrases offer endless possibilities to those seeking unique and personalized Arabic tattoos.

Arabic Writing Tattoos
Arabic tattoos are most often seen as words, names, phrases and scripture that have been translated into Arabic. The Arabic alphabet has twenty-eight basic letters each of which can have up to four distinct forms, based on its location within a word: initial (at the start of a word or in the middle of a word following a non-connecting letter), medial (between two letters that connect), final (at the end of a word following a connecting letter) and isolated (used independently or at the end of a word following a non-connecting letter). Many of these letters may look the same, however, one or multiple dots above or below the center of each letter’s form makes them different. Similarly, shapes will change to enable each letter to connect to the letters before and after them. With this creative script being cursive, Arabic writing tattoos appear as exotic works of art with flowing lines and graphic details.

Hand of Fatima Arabic Tattoos
The Hand of Fatima is symbolic of Fatima Zahara, the fifth and favorite daughter of Mohammad. This symbol, also known as the khamsa hand, is a five-fingered hand that is thought to bring good fortune and to ward off the “evil eye.” One variation, the “eye-in-hand,” features an eye in the center of the palm. The Hand of Fatima is so popular that it is regularly seen throughout the fashion industry in the form of charms and jewelry as well as meaningful body art.

Celebrities with Arabic Tattoos
Arabic tattoos continue to make their way into Hollywood among today’s hottest movie stars, models and musicians. Here are a few star personalities who bare Arabic tattoos of their own:

ANGELINA JOLIE / Actress: Arabic writing tattoo “strength of will” on right forearm

RHIANNA / Singer: Arabic writing tattoo on left side of torso

KIM RYDER / Singer: Arabic writing tattoos on shoulders

Piercing better than tattoo for teens

What's your opinion on kids getting tattoos or body piercing under the age of 18? My mom is totally against it, even though she knows its much more common now and not a sign that you are low class or something. This is just a way I want to express myself and I see this as her being controlling.

Wes: For the most part, including tattoos and body piercing in the same letter is kind of like comparing apples and monkeys.

Tattoos are permanent and most piercings are not (except for a small scar). No matter how sophisticated you are as a teenager, there's a zero-percent chance that you're going to be the same person now as you are in 10 years or 20 or 30. As we've discussed before, brains only finish developing in the mid-20s, not to mention a whole host of other new influences including your evolving personality, romantic life, career path, decision whether to have children and so on. NONE of these can be predicted now, and all of them may influence what sort of body art you choose and how it reflects who you are over a lifetime.

What I might have fancied at 18 has exactly nothing to do with what was meaningful to me at age 38 - when I got my first and only tattoo. So I'm not telling you to wait 20 years on the tattoos. I'm just suggesting you wait until you're in your adult personality - preferably in your 20s - to find out what really fits you and will continue to fit you over the long haul. Yes, you can get tattoos burned off at great expense, but is that really the right attitude to have going into this process? So on tattoos, I've got to side with your mom - though perhaps for different reasons.

Body piercing, on the other hand, has the distinct advantage of lasting just as long as you want it to. If you quit putting in the stud, you're going to lose all but a small scar. So this is a fairly harmless area of experimentation as a teen. Just be sure to work with a professional. They're required to maintain a high quality of cleanliness that your best friend is not. So DO NOT grab a needle and start stabbing. We have a different name for that. It's called self-mutilation.

The one exception I'll mention is ear gauging. Before you hit your word processors and e-mail me about how provincial I am for saying this, hear me out. Ear gauging falls into the same category as tattoos. It will leave a permanent impression (at least without plastic surgery). It's also more obvious than most tattoos, which can be hidden or displayed depending on clothing, and if a perspective employer doesn't like your style, you can't simply take out your art and put in a spacer. In fact, if I were forced to choose between a tattoo and ear gauging, I'd go with the tat somewhere that will only show when you want it to.

Julia: What comes to mind when you say "tattoos and body piercing?" My first image is of the highly inked and pierced people you see strutting their stuff on "Ripley's Believe it or Not." I have nothing against tattoos or body piercings. Many people I know have them. I just think that nowadays both get grouped with the flashy extremes seen on TV. From some people, tattoos and piercings get a bad rap as being associated with bad or strange crowds of people, which is certainly not the case. If well thought out, tattoos can be meaningful and beautiful, just as piercings can be a good venue for self-expression, as long as the piercing is appropriate.

Personally, I think "under 18" tattoos and body piercings are OK in moderation and with proper safety measures taken. The best body art I've seen is not too flashy, tasteful and serves its intended purpose as art. When considering body art, consider who you wouldn't want to see your tattoo or piercing - your boss, principal, grandparents - and then how often you will have to see them. Also remember that body art shouldn't be meant to offend. Consider who will have to see it, how to keep it covered if necessary, and when it is appropriate to show it off. Also remember that piercings and tattoos require a lot of initial care.

Chances that these concerns and responsibilities ran through your moms head when "tattoo and body piercing" was mentioned. Also, adding that many people your age have body art may only hurt your case. Teens can be irresponsible or irrational and when making a decision about a permanent hole or picture on their skin, so safety and maturity are a must. As Wes notes, if your aim is to bargain a piercing or tattoo with you mom, your best bet is a piercing. I've seen more belly button and ear cartilage piercings among my peers lately that are both well cared for and tasteful. If you're going for something more extreme like a tattoo or tongue or eyebrow piercing ask for it as an eighteenth birthday present. Waiting shows respect for your mom's concern and gives you time to research safety measures - both of which may put your mom at ease.

Tattoo School

Albany, NY, May 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Tired of wondering if the corporate ladder is going to collapse while you’re still climbing it? Is the dread of facing another work week getting bigger and bigger?

Well, you’re not alone.

Join the growing flock of people that are yearning for, and seeking out alternatives in lifestyle and employment.

Meet Olesh Kaye , a sixty-two year old man from Tel Aviv, Israel. He is a successful architect that has a large established practice in Israel. Olesh is currently a student at Tattoos By Lisa Tattoo School in upstate New York. When asked why he wants to be a tattoo artist he shrugs and says “32 years in architecture…it’s enough!”

More and more middle-agers are seeking more fulfilling ways to spend their “second half”. Lisa Fasulo, owner of Tattoos By Lisa Tattoo School sees it all the time. One third of her enrollments at tattoo school are people over 35 years old seeking a more fun, less stressful way to make a living.

Fasulo has taught people tattooing from various prior professions: restaurant owner from Philadelphia, oil rigger from Scotland, civil rights attorney from Boston, aluminum technician from Iceland, bill collector from Canada, and the list goes on.

Fasulo says “I think people are looking for something that makes them want to get out of bed in the morning. Retirement planning isn’t always at the top of everyone’s list anymore”. However, it is worth noting that top tattoo artists can earn into the six figures.

Tattoos By Lisa Tattoo School is a licensed trade school in New York, officially formed in 2003 after the more traditional apprenticeships were no longer available. Lisa teaches people how to tattoo in a two-week intensive course. Students often come from around the world because there are only a handful of schools across the globe.

Most of the students at TBL are seeking a new lifestyle as well as learning a new skill.

The tattooing culture, in particular, appeals to those once labeled “bohemian” or “alternative”. The tattoo lifestyle represents artistic freedom coupled with a dash of rebellion. An obvious appeal to those whose adolescence is far behind them.

As Olesh Kaye says, while placing a butterfly stencil on a gal’s back, “I just want to enjoy my life, not suffer at a job I no longer like. It just isn’t worth it”. One thing is for certain, life as a tattooist sure beats an AARP luncheon.

Considering a Tattoo

Tattoos may deposit more than color underneath the skin. Like car paint pigments. And lead.

These are just a couple of the substances that scientists have discovered taint some tattoo inks, raising safety concerns over the widely popular but loosely regulated industry. "Consumers should be aware of the fact that we really don't know what's being injected," warns Linda Katz, director of the Office of Cosmetics and Colors at the Food and Drug Administration. At the moment, the FDA doesn't regulate the inks and pigments used by tattoo artists, even though it's within the agency's authority to do so, and no inks or pigments have been approved for injection. While state and local authorities do oversee the practice, their rules vary, and they're mainly concerned with ensuring sanitation, experts say.

But reports of itching, swelling, rashes, bumps, and other skin reactions have caught FDA scientists' attention. "I'm scarred now," says David Surman, 49, who still suffers the consequences of his $2,000 tattoos two years later; roses on vines that snake up his arms became blisters that itch, bleed, and sting to this day. "I played the guinea pig, more or less." Agency studies are underway to determine whether tattoo inks pose any hidden health risks.

Meantime, Delaware Valley College chemistry Prof. Ronald Petruso has found what he says are potentially carcinogenic substances manufactured solely for car paint in a yellow-orange pigment he tested. And traces of lead turned up in ink samples analyzed by a Northern Arizona University colleague, Jani Ingram. "It just boggles my mind that the federal government has never set regulations for anything like this," Petruso says. Experts believe these materials are being mixed into ink because they endure. "Look at your car—the color is there for 20 years," says Wolfgang Bäumler, assistant professor of experimental dermatology at the University of Regensburg in Germany. His own study of some 40 inks revealed that most contained potentially hazardous chemicals.

Bäumler and Petruso both note that it's still unknown whether the tainting chemicals actually have health consequences. "We have no clinical evidence that these substances in the long run are either safe or not," Bäumlersays. "It could turn out there's nothing to worry about, but to make this statement at the end of the day, we have to follow up with research." Also worrisome: Animal research has shown that pigment in ink doesn't stay put where it's injected but rather roams to the lymph nodes.

Such concerns have prompted the FDA to investigate. Research is aimed at analyzing the chemical makeup of the inks and how they break down in the body; pinpointing what might be causing certain peoples' reactions; finding out where ink goes when it fades following exposure to sunlight or lasers used in removal; and ultimately determining the short- and long-term safety of the pigments used to color inks, according to an agency report out in December dubbed Think Before You Ink: Are Tattoos Safe? Regulations could follow, depending on the findings, Katz says.

Some experts remain skeptical that the inks can be harmful. "My gut feeling is that we're probably not waiting for the other shoe to fall," says Hilary Baldwin, an associate professor of dermatology at the State University of New York and an American Academy of Dermatology member. Even if these chemicals are questionable, she says, the amount injected is probably small enough to render harm a nonissue—though allergic reactions to pigments are fairly common. Her message: "If you're going to get a tattoo, be cognizant of all the risks," Baldwin says. But "I don't think they're going to kill you."

Bringing out wild side

They say with age comes wisdom, but Timaru woman Margaret Mills begs to differ.

Mrs Mills yesterday took wild to a new level when she stepped inside 4Skin Tattoo and Piercing parlour, just days after her 60th birthday.

"My mother died before she was 60 and had never had the chance to do anything for herself.

"I thought that's not going to be me, I'm going to live for the moment and do something wild.

Being patriotic, the retired mother of two had no trouble deciding on a kiwi tattoo for her lower right leg.

During the process Mrs Mills remained calm and was surprised with how little it hurt.

"I don't know why I was so worked up, I thought I was going to be lame for days.

"It really doesn't hurt that much, it's more of an annoying burning sensation.

Tattoo artist Karl Lefeber was pleased with Mrs Mills and how she had remained calm throughout the process.

He said tattooing was becoming increasingly popular in Timaru.

Afterwards Mrs Mills was quick to say she wouldn't be getting another tattoo, although she is more than happy with the result.

"One is enough for an old person like me. I think I will try to turn my attention to travelling and more normal things," she said.

Ultrasonic tattoo eraser

London, Mar 18 (ANI): Removing tattoos may soon be easy, painless and risk free, thanks to researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, who have come up with an ultrasonic tattoo eraser.

Tattoos come into being when water with colour particles is injected into the skin. The water diffuses into the surrounding tissue, leaving the colour particles in the skin.

And, while getting a tattoo is easy, removing it is just as difficult.

The process requires any one of the three methods abrasion, surgical removal or laser treatment.

However, all carry various risks such as infection and the possibility of severe scarring.

Thanks to Michael Chancellor, professor of urology at the University of Pittsburgh, and his colleague, people who want to get rid of their body art can breathe a sigh of relief.

The process that Prof Chancellor and his colleagie have come up with relies on a process called cavitation. In this process, sound waves are used to reduce the pressure of a liquid to the point where tiny bubbles of gas form.

When the pressure is raised, the bubble collapses violently, generating huge pressures, albeit on a tiny scale.

Prof Chancellor says that ultrasound can be used to destroy pigment particles without damaging tissue under the surface of the skin.

The result is a non-invasive technique that should “safely, economically, and efficiently remove at least significant portions of the tissue markings”, reports the New Scientist. (ANI)

Tattooists turn scars into butterflies

Looking to dress up a scar? Turn it into a butterfly. Or a lizard. Many people, especially women who have had mastectomies or other surgeries, are electing to do just that. Some tattoo artists welcome the challenge.
When a woman came to Damien Deeds' Manhattan tattoo parlor last year with a five-inch perforated keloid scar across her shoulder blade, he saw a creative opportunity.

The keloid, an overgrowth of swollen, rubbery scar tissue, was “sticking out, looking almost like a slug,” the 27-year-old artist said. “What I did was I created wings around it and encased the scar into the shape of the body of a butterfly. Very simple, and she loved it,” he said.

The procedure, called scar tattooing, is still relatively uncommon, but more tattoo parlors and artists around the country are taking on the challenge, with increasingly imaginative results. The process is not without risks, but those who have received the tattoos say the immeasurable boost to their self-image outweighs any health concerns they may have had.

Sasha Merritt, 38, is one of the few tattooists in the country specialize in the practice. She has run a parlor in San Francisco’s gritty Mission District for the last 10 years, but started tattooing over scars only in the last five, after a friend who had had a mastectomy approached her with the idea.

Since launching her Web site, www.dragonflyink.com, a year ago, Merritt says she’s received requests for scar tattooing from people all over the country, and even one from England. Today, the scar work accounts for a quarter of all her business, with about two new requests per week.

Last year, Deeds began getting requests for elaborate tattoos from women in Hispanic enclaves of Inwood and Washington Heights in upper Manhattan. “I’ve seen them as young as 19, but generally the women who get the work done are anywhere from early 30s into their 50s, usually single,” he said. “They get tummy tucks when they go back to the Dominican Republic, and then they come to me to rectify what the surgeon left.” He estimates he designed and created about 40 original scar tattoos last year.

Unlike Merritt, whose Web site spells out for customers the difficulty and extra time required for tattooing scars, Deeds said that it can be “total war” when it comes to negotiating a price. Because tattooists charge by the hour, the additional work time can raise the price by as much as $50 to $100, he said, bringing the range to $200 to $350. Many of his customers don’t initially understand all the complexities involved in applying ink to scar tissue, he said.

For starters, the new tissue can be less receptive to the ink, said Merritt, requiring several runs in some instances. In addition, straight lines usually become fuzzy. For this reason, Merritt is reluctant to do lettering on or around a scar unless the customer intends for such an effect. On the upside, however, people electing to tattoo over a scar say it is often less painful than ordinary tattoos as the skin immediately surrounding some scars tends to lose sensation.

When Elizabeth's doctor discussed breast reconstruction options following her mastectomy, he gave her two choices: one involved attaching an artificial nipple, the other was to tattoo on an areola. Unsatisfied, she held out for cherry blossoms.

“At first I was going to leave it alone completely,” said Elizabeth, who asked that only her middle name be used. “But then I decided if I was going to get it tattooed over, I wanted it done by a professional artist and I wanted something different.” She found Merritt through an Internet search.

This type of tattooing does require some precautions. People should wait at least a year before tattooing over a scar, said Dr. Thomas Le, the director of the Facial Plastic Surgery Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Otherwise, they risk irritating skin tissue that is essentially still healing, he said. He also cautions that scars often change color in the first year or so and tattooing over one too soon can result in a regrettable mismatch.

Perhaps the biggest risk, though, involves keloid scars, which are easily exacerbated by careless needlework. Merritt said she approaches such scars with extreme caution.

The tattooing industry is not federally regulated and some states require only a business license to open a parlor. The lack of certification and training by artists, especially ones tattooing scars for the first time, concerns Charles Zwerling, chairman of the American Academy of Micropigmentation. He says his organization, which also tattoos scars, “combines medical correction with permanent cosmetics,” and relies upon a certification process for its members. “We might use the same instruments and the same pigments,” he said, “but the purpose and therefore the training is completely different” from tattoo artists.

But practitioners of micropigmentation don’t do design work, Zwerling emphasized.

Teryn Darling said four or five local plastic surgeons directly refer patients to her Las Vegas tattoo parlor (www.girlzink.com). Some women want the incision scar around their nipples after breast augmentation tattooed to match their skin color. Others want entire areolas tattooed back onto their reconstructed breasts, for which Darling uses a shadowing technique to give the illusion of raised skin. Those tattoos can cost between $400 and $600.

A word that invariably comes up with scar tattooing is empowerment. “Very often the scars are about something that happened to them,” said Merritt of her customers. “And the tattoo process helps them to reclaim that because it’s something that they are choosing to do with a design they want. That really shifts the focus to something that is in their control.” She added, “I feel privileged to be a part of that process.”

Rather than cover up the zig-zagged scar from her mastectomy, Jane Fox chose to have Merritt embellish it by incorporating a skeletal lizard design. She views it as a badge of honor and not something to be hidden, asking, “Why should I be ashamed because I had a disease and it didn’t kill me? Now when I hear people talk in hushed tones about breast cancer,” she added, “I always flash them and let them know my story.”
